Books

I am currently seeking representation for Up From the Concrete, the first book in a trilogy of thrillers starring a boxer who becomes a vigilante to avenge the death of the man she loved like a father. The manuscript for the first book is complete, while the second and third books are in progress.

Up from the Concrete (Book 1 of the Silver Rose Trilogy – Manuscript Completed)

Aspiring boxer Stephanie Renaldo trades her gloves for body armor after her manager is murdered in a city riddled with gang violence.

All Stephanie Renaldo wants is to win the lightweight championship so she can move on from her stepfather’s abuse. She’s got a chip on her shoulder from years of physical abuse and vows to grow as strong as possible so that will never happen again.

No matter how much success Stephanie achieves in the ring, she’s still the same abused girl who can’t see past her own pain. The one person who can get through to her is her longtime mentor and boxing manager, Logan Terenzi. He tries to help her see that winning isn’t the most important thing in life, and that her value comes from within. But Stephanie remains fixated on her goal of winning that championship, until her whole world is brought crashing down by a violent gang shooting that claims Logan’s life. She realizes too late that winning will never be enough. Will revenge be?

Teaming up with a street-smart computer hacker, Stephanie sets out to find Logan’s killer and pay them back in kind. She soon discovers she’s in way over her head as she enters the fray in a brewing gang war. When the bullets fly, Stephanie is faced with a critical choice: continue the cycle of violence that has followed her throughout her life, or finally take a stand against it.

Book 2 of the Silver Rose Trilogy (Manuscript in Progress)

Lightweight Champion Stephanie Renaldo must face the consequences of her vigilante activities when a serial killer challenges her alter ego to a deadly game.

Stephanie Renaldo is now a boxer by day, vigilante by night, fighting crime in the city. Jamar still doesn’t know about her alter ego, and the secrecy starts to take its toll on their relationship.

However, things are looking up for the mysterious vigilante. The city has embraced Silver Rose as its folk hero. Even the police chief is on her side after she saves him from an assassination attempt. Stephanie starts to enjoy her new adrenaline junkie lifestyle, regardless of the havoc it wreaks on her personal relationships.

The fun abruptly ends when a killer challenges Silver Rose to a deadly game. The city’s champion may have met her match in a callous assassin. Stephanie must stay one step ahead of the killer, or people will die – including the ones she loves the most.

Book 3 of the Silver Rose Trilogy (Manuscript in Progress)

Haunted by failure in her boxing career and vigilante activities, Stephanie Renaldo considers giving up both, but must find the fighter within after she is dragged into another round against an old adversary.

Haunted by guilt and trauma, Stephanie is ready to abandon her vigilante persona. Even her day job isn’t going so well; she considers hanging up the gloves when a rising boxing star kicks her ass in the ring. Yet in the midst of a string of losses, Stephanie finds hope in a new student she starts coaching.

It’s clear that Ava Bailey has seen some shit; Stephanie knows the look in her eyes too well. But this tenacious girl throws herself into boxing with a determination that reminds Stephanie of her younger self. The champion boxer starts to uncover a softer side to herself as she trains Ava for an amateur tournament.

Just as things seem to be looking up for the both of them, an old adversary from Silver Rose’s past comes back with a vengeance. Now Stephanie and Ava must take the fight beyond the ring as they struggle to save their lives from a psychopath.
